Hope Lodge

A short overview of the organization
○ Hope Lodge program provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers, 24/7. It is more than just a roof over their heads, it’s a nurturing and safe community that helps patients access the care they need. Each Hope Lodge community offers a supportive, homelike environment where guests can share a meal, join in the evening’s activities, or unwind in their own private room without the worry of cost.

Why it was selected as a beneficiary?
○ In Florida, there are 115,000 people newly diagnosed annually. Florida has the second highest cancer rate in the nation (floridahealth.gov). The American Cancer Society is recognized as one of our illustrious sorority’s partnerships. The Hope Lodge, in Jacksonville, Florida is one of 30 Hope Lodge facilities in the United States and Puerto Rico serving patients and caregivers from all over the world. This facility offers 30 private rooms and is near many treatment facilities. Breast cancer is 40% higher in black women than white women, and prostate cancer is 2 to 3 times higher in black men than any other race. Cancer Facts & Figures 2025

What specific needs are we helping meet through our donations?
○ Our monetary donations will go towards the upkeep of the lodge itself, transportation, and assisting in providing hot meals and snacks for the patients, family members, caregivers, and volunteers. By selecting items through the SER Z-HOPE Amazon list, we are ensuring the patients and their caregivers do not have to worry about daily and basic essential supplies such as soap, tissue, and laundry detergent.

The anticipated impact of our support on the community they serve…
○ The Hope Lodge community runs solely on the generosity of donors. 540,000 free nights of lodging has been provided in 2024. Support provides free lodging for patients and their caregivers and ultimately connects them to their best chance for effective treatment. They facilitate mindful movement like yoga and health assistance such as smoking cessation classes. 2.4M cancer screenings were provided in 2024 to underserved communities.
